5 rue du château, 66720 BELESTA

Charles Rennie Mackintosh, born in Galsgow in 1868, is one of the greatest creator of the XXth century. Pioneer in modernism in design and architecture, he decided,at the end of his life, to live in the Roussillon plateau, working as a painter (1923-1927). A space in the museum of Belesta is dedicated to his career, first as an architecte and designer in Scotland, then as a pioneer of modernism in Europe, and as a painter in Roussillon, his style evolving toward surrealism. In the path of Mackintosh, thirty reproductions are placed into their context and invite you to discover this land he loved so much.
